You are here: TRANSLOGIC 84: Land Rover DC100 Concepts

No current Land Rover model better embodies the British brand's off-road heritage than the Defender, which hasn't been sold in the U.S. since the late 90's. Now, Land Rover has re-imagined the iconic Defender with their futuristic DC100 concepts. Typically show cars are just that--for show--but, we actually got to drive the DC100 Sport concept and we're happy to report that it's packed with enough tech to make James Bond himself jealous.

KISS Keep It Simple Stupid! Why does everyone think they need to take a great design as the old Defender and turn it into an IBM computer on wheels?! Shamuspc is right just send the diesel version of the old Defender here and the average Joe market would eat it up, these are the only off road vehicles that can compete with Jeep in it's market. PS The first Defenders were inspired by the old Willy Jeep.

Stupid move on Land Rovers part. Just bring back the Defender as is. No changes. This DC-100 will be a piece of crap. There is still a market for the old Defender. In fact there is a market for a diesel version of the old Defender here in the United States but Land Rover is too cheap to bring it here. There would also be a market for a pickup version of the Defender here in the United States. Land Rover could have it all if they just opened their eyes. They could get buyers from the high rollers to the blue collar workers if they brought back the Defender 90 as it is currently built. By they way what Land Rover is not telling you is that they will still make the old style Defender for their military contracts and other countries but won't bring it here to the United States. They will only bring us this piece of electronic garbage DC-100.

Yeah, but only the movie version of James Bond. Remember what Bond drove in the books? I'd like to have that old Bentley. Forget these modern toys.

I don't get it, each and every year Land Rover ranks near the bottom of ALL SUVs, regardless of their price tags. Yet for some crazy reason, people think they are the best 4 x 4 vehicles out there. WTF? Every comment preceding mine is pretty much accurate. They're expensive, notoriously undependable, and crazy to maintain. There are so many better SUVs to buy for that same money, or even less. Tread with caution...

One of the worst 4x4 vehicles you could purchase. Many electrical problems and suspension problems. My favorite is the one's that break down in a tunnel car wash. They are supposed to be able to cross the most brutal tundra and they cant even get out of a rain storm. I have fixed so many of these that I know I would never buy one. Plus the expense of owning one is over the top compared to many other vehicle's available. Now they are putting more electronic sin them so more gadget's can break down. Make sure you have Triple A.

This BS totally sucks! Part of off-roading is making your own decisions, and doing things manually, I do not want a computer making decisions for me. It's no wonder most people can't do anything for themselves these days, they expect some "gadget" or "computer" to do it for them! The Rover convertible looks like crap in my opinion. Anyway I would rather have one of the old "land cruisers", you could run them ragged all day long, and they just keep on going, long as you didn't break anything! To the manufacturers I say, " WE NEED MORE DIESELS"!!!
