If all of the money for police technology to keep the roads safe were dumped into public transportation technology, this would equate to safer and more efficient modes of public transportation, less people on the roads, less road rage, less traffic fatalities and less emissions in the environment, etc. etc.

I believe it is more about revenue and monitoring than a concern for our quality of life.

A half mile outside of my subdivision is a four way stop sign that many pass through to gain access to a major thoroughfare.

At least once a month two motor officers park there. It is approximately 8:00 AM.

The vehicles that have been stopped in front of me, were not speeding and fully stopped. It occurred to me that this is a check point for expired registrations and inspections. Yes you are correct; expired registrations and inspections is breaking the law.

I wonder if there are officers sitting in some of our lower socioeconomic neighborhoods doing the same thing? Of course not, these citizens cannot pay and it will cost the system money. This is economic profiling and is about revenue.

I don’t lay awake at night hoping the police get these hardened criminals so I can have a safer and therefore higher quality of life.

I grow weary of folks that say if you don’t break the law you don’t have to worry about it. OK, my apologies if you don’t believe that people can and have been falsely accused.

We spend a tremendous amount of money for privacy invasions in the monitoring of our citizens in case they commit a crime.

I am far more worried about gangs, pedophiles, rapists, thieves, drugs, sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy, babies born drug addicted to government funded methadone, etc. and that would be at my child’s high school.

Rest assured there will be some great data about how traffic fatalities have been reduced to justify more law enforcement and this great technology. Follow the money when that report is published.

If we have this kind of police technology we certainly have the technology for more people to be working at home and not stressing themselves out to get to their cubicle on time or their children to school.

We have the technology for better and more accessible public transportation which is far safer than crowded roads and better for the environment. This also creates jobs.

Be advised this technology allows law enforcement to determine your ability to pay. No sense in arresting or ticketing the individuals that can’t pay.

How awesome to be able to receive instantaneous information on so many citizens. You can be ticketed for just about anything. Far better for law enforcement to ticket those who can afford to pay and not waste their time on those who can’t.

Where you work, your credit report, your insurance agency, your home ownership, all popping up in a nano second with this kind of technology. A ray pointed at your license plate can efficiently deliver all of this data. Extracting your personal cell phone data can provide even more.

Of course, be rest assured, because we are being told, this would never happen and will only be utilized to capture hard core criminals.

Wake up some of you boobs who say if you have done nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about. Get your head out of he sand!! Read some history!! Stand up for what is left of your liberty!!

Taxing is absolutely out of control. If you are not appalled you are not paying attention. Our society is crumbling around us. The future that we are leaving is one that will leave our children and children’s children cursing our very existence if we don’t smarten up.

The United States of America incarcerates more of its citizens than any other nation in the world. Russia is number two. Cameras and monitoring systems everywhere. Slithering into every inch or our lives. The cost to incarcerate our citizens is horrifying!

Here is the 411...incarcerating more of our citizens than any other nation does not make us one of the freest nations in the world. It makes us one of the most imprisoned nations in the world!!

Our resources need to go into keeping people out of prison!! Our resources need to go into improving quality of life for our society a whole.

I don’t believe that prison, fines, oppression, more laws and an invasion of or fundamental privacies has prevented the level of incarceration in this country. By all means, let’s fund some more of this stuff!!

Our liberty is being eradicated and we are handing over our money to the machine to fund it!!

You should have no problem with police technology...unless your doing something wrong.

I really have no problem with the device that reads license plates. It makes sense and unless you are on the run for some reason you should not have any worries.
What I do have a problem with, is other devices not mentioned here, such as the one they are testing in Michigan and a few other states now. This device plugs into you cell phone and connects to the gps. It will tell someone exactly where you were at exactly what time you were there, how fast you were traveling, if you were stopped, if you ran a red light and many other details. It can also retrieve any personal information that you have in your phone such as messages, photos, time you made or received a call or text, and anything else you have in your cell phone. This is going WAY TO FAR. If it's not stopped now, we will never be able to stop it. Our government is out of control and needs to be put back in it's place.

When I grew up in the United States I didn't have to press 1 for English. They should have camera's on every street in America. That would eliminate he said, she said. Bring on the modern devices.

When an agency describes itself as its own entity (such as the Government) its when WE THE PEOPLE are not the controlling element in a democracy. It all seems to be great technology but haven't you noticed that its always FOR YOUR SAFETY thru amendments of our constitutional rights that are no longer taught in schools unless you privately pay (GREED) for the education of it and never for the safety of our politicians and corporate America..how about spending some of OUR money on technology to PROTECT and keep our GOVERNMENT SAFE (hint,hint) how would they love for WE THE PEOPLE to be all in their personal lives. If you have ever been to D.C. Capitol, you would easily find many higher members of our leadership living a night life that of an average American drunk! and a different life in the publics eye. we all know this and stop being stupid, do you really think your vote and voice will change the outcome of advanced police technology. The wild wild west had plenty of killings but not as many as today..no way near the number of today, because everyone had guns.. AND NO CRIMINAL WILL EVER OBEY THE LAW. Laws are as god or as bad as the people who follow them....gun laws are good but not the solution..just arm yourself and you will see. There will be a rise in shootings but after the word is out that most people are armed, you'll see the crap trickle to a halt!..way to much power for the GOV. lets turn the table on to them and stop their abuse of spending our money on other countries and save our America!

We're all guilty at some point, now you just have to pay. These so called innovations are aimed at revanue, and future big governmet. Here where i live, if you run a red light a camera takes your picture and sends you a ticket in the mail. Crap!!!! I say catch me if you can.
