You are here: Video > Lotus F1 Teams With Electronic Music Duo Daft Punk At Monaco Grand Prix

What do Formula 1 racing and Daft Punk have in common? Virtually nothing outside of some high-tech gear and, well, helmets. But that didn't stop Lotus F1 from teaming with the French electronic music duo at this year's Monaco Grand Prix.

The unlikely combination yielded a set of cryptic promotional videos, some unique photo ops, and Daft Punk badging on Lotus' black and gold F1 race cars. Perhaps the most bizarre result of the sponsorship was a set of printable, cut-out Daft Punk figurines posted to Lotus F1's twitter page.

In reference to Daft Punk's latest hit single, Lotus F1 used the hashtag #GetLucky throughout race day to cheer on their team. Unfortunately for Lotus, driver Romain Grosjean had to retire due to damage, while Kimi Raikkonen took 10th place behind rival race teams Mercedes, Red Bull, Force India, McLaren, Ferrari and Toro Rosso.

Still, we give Lotus credit for a creative and stylish campaign, even if it didn't have much to do with racing.
